Albion Receives Its Highest Number of Giving Tuesday Gifts

Giving Tuesday, a worldwide event to help nonprofit organizations, was held December 3 and a record 330 donors gave more than $150,000 to Albion College, the second-highest total in the seven years the College has taken part. “It was a great number,” said Ryan Robinet, director of philanthropy–strategic fundraising initiatives. “Their gifts will make a difference in the future of Albion College and liberal arts education.”

It was another impressive Giving Tuesday for Albion College.

The December 3 event brought in more than $150,000, the second-highest total in the seven years the College has been a part of the global effort ($185,000 was raised in 2017). And the 330 donors in 2019 are the most ever.

“It was a great number,” said Ryan Robinet, director of philanthropy–strategic fundraising initiatives. “Every nonprofit has a Giving Tuesday now. There are two million of them, but we are so thankful and appreciative to all those who gave to Albion. Their gifts will make a difference in the future of Albion College and liberal arts education. It was a good year.”

The money raised will touch on a number of areas at the College but, Robinet said, it will predominantly be earmarked for the Albion College Fund and the Briton Scholarship Fund, which benefits every student who receives a scholarship.

“These are the unrestricted gifts that really make the College tick,” Robinet said.

Robinet added that plans are in the works for the College’s next major day of giving—Albion Everywhere on March 19, 2020. For more information, contact the Office of College Events at collegeevents@albion.edu or 517/629-1835.
